LUDOWICI — Tricia Reynolds, director of planning and government services with the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center, met with the Ludowici City Council on May 12.
Reynolds provided information on the RDC’s joint comprehensive plan update, involving the Coastal Comprehensive Plan and also information on the Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield’s joint land use study.
Reynolds said Ludowici’s comprehensive long term plan, which is a guideline for directing growth and planning for the city, was outdated as a result of the growth and changes in the area.
According to Reynolds, the cost for Ludowici to have the plan updated by the RDC would be less than $5,000.
After a brief discussion, the council voted to join Long County and have the plan updated by the RDC.
Councilman Jim Fuller was charged with joining Long County Commission Chairman Bobby Walker in overseeing Ludowici’s portion of the project.
In other business the Council:
• Approved the AEGIAS Employment Benefits Brokerage to assist reviewing employees’ benefits packages and to offer a risk management analysis.
• Approved Ron Stevens, placing a storage building next to his U-Haul business on Highway 84.
• Approved Ludowici Municipal Court Clerk Cindy McClelland attending a recertification class in Tifton on June 16-17.
• Tabled a discussion on the IGA grocery’s second alleged offense, within three months, of selling alcohol to a minor.
