Bluegrass music fans are in for a treat when Larry Gillis and His Hard Driving Bluegrass Band take the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Glennville City Auditorium.

The concert, which is sponsored by Friends of the Glennwanis Hotel, is a fundraiser for the restoration of the city-owned hotel, originally built in 1926.
The band features Larry Gillis of Soperton, who is one half of the Gillis Brothers. Gillis is a banjo picker who still plays the old, claw-hammer style and is now in his 28th year of performing. Other band members include Evan Rose, 18, who plays the mandolin and guitar and sings lead vocals; Rafe Waters, of Glennville, who taught himself to play the doghouse while working as a paramedic; Alex Leach, 20, from Knoxville, Tenn., who plays lead guitar, sings lead vocals and has his own bluegrass show once a week; and David Doss, 17, of North Carolina, who plays traditional fiddle.
The band’s new CD, “Old Man Dreaming,” is now available and features 12 songs.
