A man who allegedly shot another man Tuesday after the two were involved in a fight is still at large, according to the Long County Sheriff’s Department.
At about 7:30 p.m. March 9, Edward Holmes, 29, allegedly walked to the parking lot B’s Corner Store/Snack Shack at the corner of Griffin and Gottfried roads and fired two shots at a man who was in the lot, said LCSD Det. R. Hughes.
Hughes said witnesses told him Holmes and the victim had been involved in an altercation a few minutes before the shooting and after the fight ended, Holmes walked away, possibly to his home, and came back a few minutes later with a pistol. He then allegedly fired two shots and one bullet struck the victim in his right leg. 
According to the detective, the bullets were fired from a 22 caliber magnum handgun. Hughes said that according to the witnesses, Holmes then turned around and walked away.
The detective said a friend of the victim drove the man to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville where he was treated. Later that evening, the victim was taken to Candler Hospital in Savannah. Hughes said the victim’s identity will not be disclosed to insure his safety, but on Thursday, he was reportedly still in the hospital and in good condition.
Hughes said Holmes is considered armed and dangerous and, once apprehended, will be charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. 
The detective said the alleged shooter previously was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.  Holmes is also known as “E.D.,” “E.W.” and “Eddie.”
Authorities are asking anyone with knowledge of Holmes’ whereabouts to call the LCSD at 545-2118 and ask for Hughes or Agent B. Chapman. All information will be kept confidential.
