The boys and girls Long County basketball teams were well-represented on this year’s 2-AA All-Region Team.

Lady Tide forward India Gamble made the first team and center Calea LaRochester was named to the second team. Shooting guard Tashanna Livingston and center Rhea Rose were given honorable mentions.

The Blue Tide’s Justin Boyd, a shooting guard, and Norman Thompson, a point guard, received first team honors. Donte Brown got an honorable mention. Boyd also was the runner-up in votes for boys team player of the year.

McIntosh County’s Lamario Dixon was named player of the year, and Buccaneers coach Terrance Hayward was named Region 2-AA boys coach of the year.

The girls player and coach of the year awards went to Appling County’s Ashley Jones and Appling coach Melody Walker.
