Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

A lady in town claims to be a born-again Christian. Let’s see, she’s angry, rude, mean, a gossiper and back-stabs people. Wow, I didn’t think that was the way Jesus acted.

Here’s a suggestion for the $9 million the board plans to spend. Instead of a football field, why don’t we get air conditioning on the buses so that it will benefit all of the students and everyone else?

We went from two hotels to eight or nine now. What’s the deal? This is not motel city, the big city where business is booming. We need industrial parkways and less fast food and pawn shops. People are looking for other sources of income.

Why are we building a new city hall? Water is already sky high. Why didn’t they move into the old Goody’s, bigger and more parking spaces? Look out, Hinesville, taxes are going up. Wait until they open the new justice center.

All this land Hinesville claims they got, why didn’t they build a Sam’s Club? That’s creating jobs for people. Hinesville officials don’t think, do they?

When I was growing up, we did go back to school after Labor Day.
