A Liberty County woman told Midway Police she was abducted and raped at gunpoint last Thursday as she was leaving the Dollar General Store  in the 100 block of Butler Street.
The woman said she was getting into her vehicle at around 3:15 p.m. when a man later identified as Tommy Quarterman allegedly entered the passenger side and showed the woman a handgun, said Liberty County Sheriffs Office Detective Jeff Heim.
The woman said she was told to drive to an area on Highway 17 and was forced to have sex with the suspect. She said she filed an incident report 35 minutes after she was released.
Heim said the woman identified Quarterman as her assailant during a photo lineup.  The suspect was interview and questioned the next day. Afterward, he was arrested and charged with rape.
Quarterman later appeared before a magistrate judge and was denied bond.
The victim claims she does not know Quarterman, but said she had seen him around the area.
An initial report was filed by Midway Police Officer Mark Rich.
