Georgia's initial unemployment insurance claims down in May, up for year

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that 44,711 laid-off workers filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits in May, down 13.4 percent from April. Most of the decline in claims came in manufacturing industries.

Labor department to televise 14th annual job fair

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor's 14th annual televised job fair will be carried statewide on Georgia Public Broadcasting from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.
